Supply Inventory (3/2)

This day was my first opportunity to assist in some supply inventory and reorganization in and around the Stadium. Specifically, this involved moving various bathroom supplies from the loading dock to certain supply closets and relocating other supplies to make space for incoming items. This was an important experience because it is an aspect of stadium operations that I had not put much thought into prior to this internship. Organizing supplies in a useful manner is a way to prepare for upcoming events so that more time can be spent on time-sensitive tasks closer to the actual event taking place. In addition to making room for new supplies, the inventory process includes making notes of which supplies were already present and where those supplies were located. Keeping track of inventory is a necessary part of an operations team because those supplies are necessary for the operation of any event. This part of the process also provided me with my first opportunity to locate and see what each supply closet contains.

Throughout the process, I was able to learn the importance of preparation and organization. I also found it important to keep a detailed list of supplies and the location of supplies. A master list would eliminate any confusion or time-wasting when attempting to locate supplies, especially in time-sensitive situations. This day’s assignment taught me that preemptive planning and organization can make an organization much more efficient and thereby increase employee morale all while creating a better experience for guests and employees alike.
