The start of this week provided an opportunity to talk about what needs to be done prior to events happening more often. The Stadium has been mostly closed for the winter apart from giving tours, but as the weather gets better there begins to be more events. One of these events that happens regularly is called “Thirsty Thursdays”, during which the rooftop bar is open to the public for Thursday evenings. For this event to take place, the roof has to be cleaned and the furniture used for the event has to be removed from storage and set up. Since those events will begin happening in April, the plan for getting everything set up was made during this week. This showed the continued importance of maintaining a list of inventory and supplies that extends to event-specific items such as tables, chairs, and table cushions.

As we began planning for Thirsty Thursdays, we started by looking for all the necessary materials. Upon looking for some event-specific drapes and linens, we realized that they were not where we thought they should have been. We spent most of the day looking for them and calling other individuals to determine if anyone knew where they were, but were not able to locate them by the end of the day. Before we left for the day, we made a plan to contact a few other individuals and search in a few more obscure locations around the Stadium. This experience taught me the importance of maintaining an inventory list and ensuring that employees know who is in charge of specific items or events. We lost most of a day by looking for items that we never found and still were not sure who might have moved them or lost track of where they should be located.
